Why we show our work

Most manuscript feedback asks you to take the reviewer's word for it. "The middle drags." "She feels inconsistent." Maybe true, maybe not. You cannot tell, because there is nothing to check.

We do it differently: every significant point in a Veritas Review is tied to a specific passage in your manuscript, quoted or cited by chapter. When we say a subplot resolves too fast, we show you the pages. When we say a character contradicts herself, we show you both moments.

This does three things:

  1. You can verify us. If a note does not match your reading of the passage, say so. The review is a conversation, not a verdict.
  2. Revision gets faster. You are not hunting for the problem we described. It is right there, quoted.
  3. Praise means something. When we say a scene works beautifully, the quote proves we actually read it.

Showing our work is slower. It is also the only way a review earns your trust. That trade is the entire business.
